LC Paper becomes the first EU paper mill to achieve B Corp certification
The Besalú-based company has reached a global milestone by becoming the first tissue paper manufacturer in the world to earn this prestigious social and environmental impact seal.
LC Paper has successfully completed the B Corp certification process, an independent audit that identifies leading companies committed to positive social impact and sustainability. By achieving this status, LC Paper joins a global movement of over 3,200 companies, aligning itself with sustainability leaders such as Holaluz, Danone, and Veritas. The process involved a comprehensive audit of environmental and social practices, as well as a formal update to the company's bylaws to reflect its commitment to a positive impact.
This certification establishes LC Paper as a global benchmark in the tissue paper industry. The achievement is driven by the company's focus on decarbonization, featuring a high-capacity biomass boiler and a solar park with over 8,000 photovoltaic panels. Furthermore, its Dalia brand products lead the way in eco-innovation by eliminating plastic packaging and chemical bleaches.
Celebrating its 140th anniversary, LC Paper operates two production plants in Besalú and Sarrià de Ter, producing 50,000 tons of paper annually. The company currently exports more than half of its total production to 40 countries across four continents.
