Generalitat de Catalunya – Departament d'Empresa i Treball
With the support of the Generalitat de Catalunya

Bales of recovered paper and cardboard, ready for recycling

LC Paper 1881, SA has completed Project 2x26, which adds a second line converting tissue paper into toilet rolls at its Fornells de la Selva site (Gironès). The new line has been installed in the plant's existing buildings, opened in 2023, and covers the converting machinery, civil works, electrical installation and integration with the production management system.

Project objectives:

  • Double the finished-product capacity of the Fornells de la Selva site.
  • Become more competitive with more finished product, which adds more value than semi-finished parent reels and is less exposed to price competition from imports.
  • Grow with the same production model: electricity from renewable sources and paper made at the Besalú/Beuda mill.

Result: the new line is now in operation and the site's finished-product capacity has risen from 6,000 to 12,000 tonnes per year. The investment made amounted to €2,419,934.74.

The project received a grant of €483,820.00 from the Government of Catalonia's Department of Business and Labour (Departament d'Empresa i Treball) under the Productive Investment Projects in Catalonia grant scheme (Order EMT/42/2024).
